Spring Break
I didn't really do much and I ended up sleeping in until 3 every day. I did visit my friend in Maryland who just got engaged. She asked me to be her maid of honor. To no surprise every girl I mention that to says "aaawww" and "You should definitley do it." Every guy I ask says "whats that" or "can you even do that . .. your not a girl". I still haven't decided yet. Her fiance wants his best man to be a dog. They are still fighting about that one. If anything I will go to the wedding to see a dog dressed in a suit . . . and there is a free bar.

speaking to patriarchal traditions, it is unsettling to hear of people getting married too young with divorce rates (a girl from my high school class is already getting one), but what a non-normative wedding it will be with a man as the maid of honor and a pet as the bestman--defying hegemonic conceptions at their core, a man and his best friend.
ReplyDeleteAwww! -- just kidding! But it would be pretty cool!! As for the dog, that sounds a little silly to me!
ReplyDeleteUm, actually, dogs of honor are the new rage. But Todd and Judy were already married when they got me. Isn't a male maid of honor spelled "made of honor" like that movie? HEH!
ReplyDelete..."Hegemonic conceptions"--whoa, there Patrick. I can't keep up. I'm a dogger.
Sleeping in is the best!!
